My Favorite Things About Pregnancy

It's no secret that there are plenty of hardships and difficulties that come with pregnancy, especially in the last couple of months! With only 8 days left, I find myself resting in this fear, anxiety and uncertainty of what is about to take place in the coming days. This post may be more so therapeutic for myself vs. informative for you. However, I thought it would be fun to highlight all of the things that ended up being my FAVORITE things about pregnancy that truly make it all worth it. Because this girl needs to focus on the positives and get my head in the game! These are things I feel as though I may genuinely miss once I am back to 'normal' and I'm curious to see if any of the other mama's out there ended up missing these things too!
1. Baby Kicks
The reassurance of little feet moving around and stretching out like it's The Hilton in there really makes me so feel so much closer to Audrey. I'm her personal hammock. It makes her feel more real and tangible to me. These are the moments I feel as though she is self aware and exploring her surroundings and I can't help but talk to her as if she knows and understands every word I say.

We have a lot of car ride conversations.
I'm insane, I know.
2. Hiccups
Chalk it up to things just being cuter when tiny people do them -- like sneezing or sucking thumbs. But to feel a hiccup happening rhythmically in utero is the most precious thing to me. I hold my hand right where her hiccups are until she stops because I just can't get enough. I also apologize to her when it happens because it's usually followed by me having some sort of carbonation!

Ooooops.
3. The 'Snooze Button'
Getting the 'snooze button' and the line down the middle of my belly was something I anticipated so much! It made me feel like I was 'official' and was some right of passage..? Once my belly button had officially popped out I couldn't stop touching it. All day. It's just so dang soft and I can't visually imagine it being a bottomless pit again! Haha!
4. Styling The Bump
Finding a flattering maternity outfit, as much as I miss 95% of my wardrobe that couldn't possibly be worn, I have to say it is really fun to "dress the bump!" It has almost been an extra challenge to myself to curate outfits completely based on accentuating the bump, but still getting to reflect my own personal style while doing so.
5. Hot Baths
This may seem like a silly thing... and "why should you miss them and not continue to take baths after the fact," you might ask? -- To be honest I have never, ever been a bath person. I could count on probably one hand how many baths I have willingly taken in my adult life prior to pregnancy. I just enjoy the pressure of the running water in the shower, the constant steam build up(the water never getting cold), not having to wait for the water to fill up. Plus it's much more conducive to moments that I need to shave my legs and not have to sit in all of my leg hairs... ew.

However, since being pregnant, I have LOVED taking baths! Naturally, because my feet and back are always sore it feels amazing to lay down and not have to stand. To be able to soak and bring actual pain relief from doing so has been wonderful. Baths have helped me sleep better through the night as I would normally toss and turn from hurting. There's also a mental calming effect that they have had on my anxiety as the days have gotten closer to my due date. I genuinely hope that I still get the same level of enjoyment out of them post baby! Please God!

Again, with only 8 days left in this race, I thought it was really important that my last pregnancy post should include more positive things that I experienced. Of course there are countless of other wonderful little blessings along the way that I will cherish, but these are just a few things that came to mind! We are so stinkin' excited to be in the single digit days and I want to thank anyone who has followed along in our journey. For those of you who have offered an encouraging or sweet word -- you have no idea how helpful it has been! Please tell me anything you found that you ended up missing post pregnancy -- I'm so curious to see what yours are!
Catch you guys on the other side... eeek!
